It is said that Mercury Cougar was originally a Mustang and then was based on Thunderbird. Mercury Cougar was sold as a part of Mercury cars and Mercury cars was a part of Ford Motors. Most of the Mercury cars were based on Ford models. The last version of Mercury Cougar was based on Ford Mondeo. In early days the Cougar was offered as a coupe or a convertible body style. Even today car enthusiasts are fan of the old Cougar as the vehicle was very powerful. In the 1970’s Cougar became luxury car form performance car. Mercury Cars experimented with various body styles and then finally settled as a luxurious coupe. This coupe was available in either a V6 or more powerful V8.
